چکیده

We have previously reported our attempts to produce microbubble aggregations, by making use of Bjerknes force, which acts to propel microbubbles and to adjust the size of aggregations. However, because we have used simple shape of artificial blood vessels, the behavior of aggregations in a capillary, e.g., probability to obstruct in bloodstream, possibility of embolization, has not been predicted. Thus we designed and fabricated a capillary-mimicking artificial blood vessel to apply to active path block with microbubble aggregation. The aggregation suddenly flaked off the vessel wall and flew to downstream, which was caught at a bifurcation with a high probability. We verified the same experiment under similar parameters to calculate the probability of path block.

Microbubbles: pathophysiology and clinical implications.

Gas embolism is a known complication of various invasive procedures, and its management is well established. The consequence of gas microemboli, microbubbles, is underrecognized and usually overlooked in daily practice. We present the current data regarding the pathophysiology of microemboli and their clinical consequences. Microbubbles originate mainly in extracorporeal lines and devices, such...

Prediction of Time of Capillary Rise in Porous Media Using Artificial Neural Network (ANN)

An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was used to analyse the capillary rise in porous media. Wetting experiments were performed with fifteen liquids and fifteen different powders. The liquids covered a wide range  of  surface  tension ( 15.45-71.99  mJ/m2 )  and  viscosity (0.25-21 mPa.s). The powders also provided an acceptable range of particle size (0.012-45 μm) and surface free...

Determination of Surface Tension and Viscosity of Liquids by the Aid of the Capillary Rise Procedure Using Artificial Neural Network (ANN)

The present investigation entails a procedure by which the surface tension and viscosity of liquids could be redicted. To this end, capillary experiments were performed for porous media by utilizing fifteen different liquids and powders. The time of capillary rise to a certain known height of each liquid in a particular powder was recorded. Two artificial neural networks (ANNs) were...

Sensitivity Analysis of Cumulative Oil Production and Production Rate on Block Heights and Capillary Continuity for an Iranian Carbonated Fractured Reservoir

Block heights and capillary continuity between matrix blocks play paramount role in the sensitivity analysis and therefore the history matching of cumulative oil production and production rate of carbonated fractured reservoirs. In this study, the influence of these parameters upon cumulative production and recovery factor of an Iranian fractured reservoir were studied by the usage of a sim...
